We are happy to announce that on June 21st our second single ASSANGE has been released on all digital platforms with the special participation of the multifaceted bassist Rosa Brunello. This collaboration is the first in which the double bass is hosted in this historic bassless line-up.
The song Assange is a dedication to the famous journalist-activist, a modern symbol of freedom of information and whose persecution – which lasted almost 14 years – demobilized protests and activism across the globe. Coincidence or synergistic timing meant that three days after publication one of the most unexpected pieces of news arrived: on 24 June Julian Assange was released from prison after five years of detention and returned to his homeland, a unique event in the history of the jurisdiction and which today is center of world news.
Assange summarizes the network in its controversial transition from an instrument of freedom to a political one, from discussion to the dogma of post-truth, from informing to standardizing, from rewarding the truth or punishing transgression in having disclosed it.
We wanted to narrate this story accompanied by the tonal depth of Rosa Brunello‘s bass (CAM Record artist, mentioned several times in the Italian “Top Jazz” chart and member of Dee Dee Bridgewater’s band). The meeting with Rosa was born from the common desire to be able to construct a message of solemn respect towards the rights of freedom, a theme that unites the feelings of the artists involved in a diversified way.
The song is part of the second single of a series of releases included in the album “Good Morning World” soon to be released on September 27th by the Norwegian record label Losen Records.
